Those of you with children will find it surprising that Jeremiah, at almost 6 weeks old, has never had a "blow out" (you know... where the poop goes ALL the way up his back!) OR used his "sprinkler" to shower us during diaper changing time. UNTIL TODAY. That's right, folks. I knew Jeremiah was poopy when I went to change him, but I was surprised at the amount of poop awaiting me (since it's never happened before!). WOW. So anyway, I found that it is physically impossible to remove a poopy onesie without making the entire baby poopy in the process (any suggestions here?). So Jeremiah had poop covering his back and bottom, and I even somehow managed to get it on his arms (I'm talented, I know). So once the poopy jammies were removed, there I was with a naked baby needing to be cleaned up. Wipes were not going to do it, so I grabbed the poopy baby (making myself poopy in the process) and we went to get a warm washcloth. When we returned to the changing table, I wanted to lay him on his tummy so I could clean him up, but I didn't want him to pee all over my lovely new changing table cover (right, yes, I know... that's what it's for. Still. I'm anal like that). So I grabbed a towel, and JUST as I was laying it down on the changing table, the sprinkler started going. And going. And going. All over the towel AND the lovely new changing table cover AND the clothes I had gotten out for Jeremiah to wear today, etc, etc, etc. Yes, I did know that I was playing with fire, leaving the sprinkler uncovered or so long... but since it never happened before, I assumed that Jeremiah was just more mature than those other baby boys. Guess not. Oh, and I am pretty sure that Jeremiah was smiling this whole time.
Look at him! He's not even sorry about what he put his mommy through! Good thing he's cute. Oh, and sidenote here: I have a Macbook from school, and I have never been all that fond of it (being more of a PC person). However, I used the "retouching" tool in iPhoto to blur Jeremiah's little boy part. Cool, huh? :)
As I mentioned above, Jeremiah has started smiling! He started out being pretty stingy with his smiles (only smiling at the lamp, window, or ceiling fan), but he has now realized that mom and dad are pretty funny. So he has started smiling at us, too!
Here he is at the end of a smile. And no, this particular smile was not directed at me. :( It was directed at the picture of the truck hanging above the changing table. Darn truck.
Jeremiah loves laying on his back and looking up at his mobile. He stares quite intently at the elephants. Sometimes he decides to talk to them... but usually he just stares them down.
It's hard to believe that Jeremiah will be 6 weeks old tomorrow!!! He is going to celebrate by going to 1st grade! Well, not really. But we are going to go to my school tomorrow so that my students can see this baby that they have watched grow all year long. I am crossing my fingers that none of the dear 6-year-olds asks how exactly the baby came out of my tummy. My answer will probably be, "Ask you mom." Jeremiah is also having his first road trip this weekend-- we are heading to Sioux City for Easter! Jeremiah will finally be able to meet his cousins Kyan and Kobe, who are very eager to meet him! The drive is about 3 hours... so I am hoping that I can feed him before we leave, he'll sleep the whole drive, and then wake up to be fed when we get there. Yes, I have high hopes. We'll see how it goes!
We wish everyone a blessed Easter!
The cutest Easter bunny ever! :)
