So, this weekend, we had Jeremiah's 1 year pictures taken by our AWESOME friend Celeste. As she was editing the photos and as I was telling her that J hasn't been feeling well lately, she mentioned to me that in the pictures his skin had a yellowish tinge to it. Huh. Weird. So when Jeremiah got up this morning, I looked at him a little differently. And sure enough-- kinda yellow! Adam noticed it, too, especially on his hands and neck. So anyway, Adam mentioned this to the doctor when he brought Jeremiah in today (for other reasons). The doctor also noticed the yellowish-ness, and pricked Jeremiah's finger for a Bilirubin test. Thankfully that test came back normal, and Jeremiah's liver is functioning just fine! But the doctor did say that the yellowish color to Jeremiah's skin is most likely a result of him eating lots of squash! Shoot-- who knew something like that could happen?!?!? Not me, obviously.
Anyway, our fella has had a rough couple days (he has been a CRAB!) because of a combination of things-- fever due to a reaction to the MMR vaccine from last Monday, molars coming in, and the beginning of an ear infection. Not to mention the part about being yellow-- I'd be crabby about that, too! Needless to say, he had peas tonight.
See for yourself-- a sneak peek of Jeremiah's 1 year pictures (yellow or not, he's still cute)!
Oh yes, I know about the yellow-tinged skin from eating mainly yellow veggies. I've seen it in babies at KinderCare. Actually, I think that a l-o-o-o-n-g time ago, Aunt Cora Mae ate so many fresh carrots out of Grandma's garden that she also noticed a yellowish tint to her skin. The pictures are adorable!! Celeste does a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteEvery baby I've ever known turns into an Oompa-Loompa at some point.... that's just what those orange veggies do! It was even our goal at one point, just because Joel thought it was fun! ;0]
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pictures - especially the last one.
Really? So it's not just me? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are adorable! That is one very creative photographer and obviously the subject was enjoying himself. The story is funny. I don't think that I would have noticed the yellow skin if you hadn't said anything.
ReplyDeleteIt is a LOT more noticeable in the pictures we took of all 3 of us-- I might be getting those in black and white! :)
ReplyDeleteI tried to comment, but I don't think it went through so sorry if this is a repeat...
ReplyDeleteJust wait until blueberry season! Annika loved them so much and ate so many of them that her poop was blue! A bit of a shocker. :)
