Daddy's Weekend

If there is one word we hear A LOT around our house, it is definitely "Daddy" or "Da-da." Jeremiah is most definitely a daddy's boy! This morning after I got Jeremiah up and in his high chair for breakfast, he noticed a shirt of Adam's hanging on the back of the dining room chair. And he proceeded to exclaim "Da-da! Da-da!" and had like a 5 minute conversation with that shirt, as if I wasn't even there! What am I, chopped liver? Sheesh.

But really, I love to see the relationship between Jeremiah and Adam. Adam is such a good Daddy and we are so thankful to have him in our lives! So, this past weekend we had a nice Daddy's weekend for Adam.

On Friday morning, Adam and Jeremiah went over to Jeremiah's daycare to have "Donuts with Dad" for breakfast. And he was presented with a cute travel coffee mug with pictures of Jeremiah on it!

Later that morning we headed over to the Blank Park Zoo. I have been to a lot of zoos in my life, and this one is relatively small. But with a toddler, it was perfect! We covered most of it in an hour and a half, had lunch, and headed home for J's nap (of course he zonked out in the car!).

Jeremiah feeding the fish.

Yes, I had nightmares about my little boy falling into that pool of horrid looking fish, and I did have a tight, death-grip on the strap of his sun suit.

He's a goat lover! He thinks they are strange looking dogs.

We tried for a paci-free family picture by the only elephant at the zoo, but Jeremiah is just too darn quick!

Daddy, Jeremiah, and a dinosaur. Our zoo might not have animals like elephants and bears, but at least we have dinosaurs!

And a stop for lunch before heading home.

Saturday was spent getting things done around the house, Skyping with G & G Wiers, and mowing the lawn (so Jeremiah was happy!). In the evening we gathered with our church small group for a fabulous BBQ-- lots of fun for all of us!

On Sunday before church, Jeremiah presented Adam with some Father's Day gifts:

The travel mug, a Home Depot giftcard, and some books (one of which I...um, I mean Jeremiah, made on Shutterfly).

Sunday evening our church had a "Father's Day Swim" at the Clive Aquatic Center. Jeremiah had a blast!

Happy Father's Day, Adam-- we love you! :)

  1. What a great weekend! I love to see how big Jeremiah is getting and all the wonoderful things you do with him, Rach - what a great set of parents the little guy has! :0]

And, I hate to say this but, you know all the "fuss" about Rob Bell that's been happening the past few months, right? I'll be interested to hear what Adam thinks of Rob's Universalistic approach...

  2. Yes, Lynne-- that's exactly why Adam wanted to read the book, to see what all that "fuss" is about! So far he's saying "It's interesting..." so we'll see! :)
