Wednesday, it was just us and Meema and Boppa, so we decided to head to the Milwaukee County Zoo. We have had really nice weather this weekend-- walking around outside at the zoo was quite bearable. Not bad for late November!
J loved driving the truck and tractor at the dairy farm!
We saw giraffes...
and lions...
Check out the size of those paws!
Boppa and J checked out the hippo.
And of course J had to get another Moldarama! This time, a tiger.
That night, Meema was busy preparing food for Thanksgiving dinner-- of course there were pies (and more importantly, pie crust cookies!).
On Thanksgiving, we enjoyed a nice church service at my parent's church, and then headed home for a nap. Then it was off to Uncle Lew and Aunt JoAnne's for Thanksgiving dinner!
Juan and Karen came up from Chicago! Oh, Abby, too.
J didn't eat much Thanksgiving dinner, but dove right in when it was time for pie and ice cream!
After dinner, my cousin Jane brought out some puzzles, which proceeded to frustrate absolutely everyone (Jane is the one sitting back eating and relaxing while everyone else struggles with those darn puzzles).
And only through the wonders of Google, was this one able to be solved.
Friday was another great weather day-- J enjoyed some time outside. Imagine his delight when Boppa got the mower out to do some mulching!
My mom, Abby, and I spent the afternoon in Cedarburg. We try to do this every year (last year I missed it!), and usually we go with Aunt JoAnne and Jane. We did a little shopping and enjoyed lunch at the Creme & Crepe (I dream about this place regularly).
The skinny jean/boots/vest/scarf twins LOVE Creme & Crepe!
And this is why...
My parents are heading to California for Christmas (because of the birth of my new nephew, Evan!), so we decided that it would be best to do Christmas this weekend as well! So Friday was our "Christmas Eve." We enjoyed our usual snacks for dinner and presents!
J's first gift was a school bus from Auntie Abby! He was pretty excited!
While the rest of the presents were being opened, he just wanted to be in the kitchen, playing with his school bus (yes, Abby did eventually get it out of the package)!
We took a break, midway through the presents so that we could Skype with Matt, Cheryl, Josie, and Evan.
We got our first good look at the new little guy!
Back to the presents, J got a new big boy coat!
So, since Friday was "Christmas Eve," that made today "Christmas Day." So we did our traditional breakfast of butterhorns (I'm not much of a fan, but everyone else in the fam likes them)...
and then opened stockings!
Mom, Abby, Jeremiah, and I did some shopping at the mall today, too. Still a bit of Christmas shopping to do!
Abe and J before lunch!
Jeremiah also decided to add his own decor to Meema and Boppa's Christmas tree...
We enjoyed a yummy dinner of pizza, and the entertainment (sorry about the flashes from the paparazzi) was provided by our very own Jeremiah!
J read stories with Meema and went to bed, and now the rest of us are relaxing (I am munching on round 2 of pie crust cookies).
Tomorrow, after church and a Panera lunch, we will make the trek back to Iowa. I am already dreading it. We had such a wonderful weekend (thanks Mom and Dad!), I hate going back to reality and school! :( 19 school days 'til Christmas Break!
