I don't want to say the standard, "I can't believe Hope is 4 months old already!" But really. I can't. How has she been here with us for 4 months already?!?! Time is moving too fast (I'm going to say that every single time I do an update. Seriously. Sorry.)
H at 4 months old!
They are definitely siblings! Aren't Adam's kids adorable? :)
We got a great report from the doctor today at Hope's 4 month well-check! She is 15 lbs 5.5 oz and in the 68th percentile for weight. She is 25 & 3/4 inches long and in the 89th percentile for height. The doctor called her "long and lean with nice chubby thighs." Sounds about right!
Side note: I went back to check Jeremiah's stats at 4 months. Um, hello. He weighed 17 lbs and was 26.5 inches long and was wearing 9 month clothing!!!! Sheesh! Why didn't anyone tell us we were raising such a brute! Ok, maybe they did, I don't recall. But H was 9 lbs 5 oz at birth and J was 8 lbs 3 oz at birth. SO, in 4 months H has gained 6 lbs and J had gained almost 9 lbs! Hope is just a nice "petite" little lady, and Daddy's nickname of "peanut" fits her well. Her sizable cheeks and thighs make her seem larger than she actually is, apparently!
The doctor was quite impressed that Hope was grabbing her toes and also right away grabbed onto the stethoscope when she was listening to her heart. She said that for a "small" object and only being 4 months, that was impressive because most 4 month olds are just batting at things and not grabbing yet (I'm bragging here. She's OBVIOUSLY a genius).
Hope got her vaccines today, too. She majorly gagged on the oral rotavirus one, and screamed for the shots. But she calmed down practically right away once I picked her up. She sure did let the nurse know that she did not appreciate being poked! Also, she HATES when the doctor looks in her ears, I'm not sure why. She screamed almost as loud for that as she did for the shots!
Hope is pretty much doing all the normal things- smiling, laughing, "talking," shrieking, rolling, watching big brother, etc. She is doing fabulously at 4 months and we just love her to pieces!

And let's not forget about big bro!! We got a great report from his teacher at parent/teacher conferences on Monday. We are so proud!!

So he is ready for Kindergarten! We should probably figure out where we are going to send him! Can I say again that time is moving too fast?!!?
Last week in preschool they learned about community helpers, which J loved (of course). That meant a trip to the Zeeland police/fire station, and J got to turn on the lights in the police SUV! It was one of the best days of his life (probably only second to riding in a combine). :)

Also they got to come to school dressed like what they want to be when they grow up! It was a tough choice between firefighter and construction worker (thankfully those are the 2 costumes we have!). Ultimately he chose.....

We are just so thrilled to be mommy and daddy to these 2. We are so blessed!!!!!
P.S. Are there other 5 year old boys out there who are obsessed with collecting icicles??
