Haircut #3

Okay, who am I kidding? I AM going to write about every single haircut Jeremiah gets! :) Okay, maybe just in his first year. He's only 9 months old (YIKES, he's 9 months old TODAY!) and had 3 haircuts already..... he is his father's child for sure!

We will be taking family pictures next week when we go up to Sioux City for Thanksgiving, so the shaggy boys (Adam and Jeremiah) needed haircuts! I restrained myself from taking pics during the actual haircut, but maybe I should have because he was pretty hilarious this time. He sat and stood on Adam's lap (he's not much for sitting still these days). Every time the lady came near him with the clippers, he had to turn his head to check out that buzzing sound! But he eventually kept his head still enough for her to cut his hair-- he stood there with a VERY concerned look on his face, clutching the cape in his chubby little fists. :) Here is an after picture:

Oh, and Jeremiah is currently working on getting his 8th tooth. YES, 8th. He has 4 on the bottom and 3 on the top, and 1 more is coming in. Where did my baby go?!?!?! With his quickly growing hair and mouth full of teeth (reminds me of the dream I had way back when I was pregnant.... I looked down at my brand new baby boy and he smiled up at me with a mouth full of adult teeth. Creepy!) he is looking WAY TOO MUCH like a little boy! :(

A Visit from Grandma and Grrrrandpa Wiers!

Grandma and Grandpa Wiers came to see Jeremiah this weekend! They insist that they were happy to see me, Adam, and Molly, too. But we know the REAL reason that they came! :) They hadn't seen Jeremiah since Labor Day weekend, so they were impressed with how big he has gotten and all the new things he has learned (still working on "So big," though).

On Saturday we walked around Historic Valley Junction. The weather was gorgeous this weekend, so we figured we should take advantage of it and do something outside! So it was nice to walk around and see the shops. It was still a little chilly when we got there, though, so Jeremiah was sporting his winter hat.

He is surprisingly tolerant of it.

We had lunch at The General Store Eatery, which was a very cool place. Adam and I enjoyed looking at all antiques and stuff from the olden days. Mom and Dad enjoyed looking at the stuff that they remember from their childhoods. :) Jeremiah enjoyed eating baby food and sitting on mommy's lap.


While Mom and I walked around a bit, Adam and Dad stood outside a bar (it was standing room only inside) and tried to catch the end of the Hawkeye game.


Saturday night we had dinner at Leaning Tower of Pizza here in Ankeny (voted best pizza place in Ankeny for the past 6 years!). It was pretty good. Jeremiah was in awe of all the action going on in the kitchen.

Well, either that or he was eyeing our waitress, who had really short shorts on.

Then when we got home it was time for a bath....

and bed time stories!


Sunday morning Jeremiah was up an hour early because of that stupid time change, but Grandma jumped at the chance to get him out of bed and spend some quality time with him downstairs while mommy and daddy slept in (thanks, Mom!). Then it was time for church, then lunch at Panera.


Jeremiah and Grandpa practiced making their "Old Man" faces! Funny thing, though, that Grandpa's the only one doing it in the picture! :) Jeremiah wore his brand new flannel shirt and overalls that Grandma brought for him.


One last cuddle with Grandma.

Then all too soon it was time for Grandpa and Grandma to head back to Wisconsin. Next time we wee them will be Christmas! Thanks for coming, we miss you already! :)

Halloween!

We had a very fun Halloween weekend! We started out with pumpkin carving. Adam is the master carver, and Jeremiah and I prefer to supervise.

Jeremiah was pretty excited about watching Daddy carve the pumpkins! Well, we're not sure if his excitement was really about that OR if he was just super excited to be sitting at the big people table!

Then Saturday we went to our friends' house for a Murder Mystery party! The party took place at the Deadwood Saloon (aka the Paulson residence), and everyone was dressed for their characters! Meet Banker Bonnie and Montgomery Money (and no, we were not married).


A little Buckaroo, a little blue monster, and a little monkey snuck (is that a word? It should be) into the party!



Someone was murdered at the Deadwood Saloon!


But who was the killer? Quite a mystery!

Montgomery Money doing some kind of deal with his daughter, Minnie.... rumor has it he was trading gold nuggets for cash to use in the poker game! Very suspicious...

And the killer was........... none other than Montgomery Money himself! I realize now that I should have paid a lot more attention to details that evening-- Adam wore his watch on his right wrist, which was a vital clue!

Overall it was such a great night with wonderful friends! We had never done a murder mystery party before, and it turned out to be super fun! And my years spent playing Miep, Aunt Trina, etc in the high school plays must have paid off-- I was voted Best Actress of the night! :)

Troublemaker

What?!?!? Troublemaker???? What are you talking about? Look at my innocent little face!

Yes indeed, Jeremiah is becoming quite the little troublemaker! He likes to crawl everywhere and get into everything that he is NOT supposed to. We put his toybox on the floor to block him from getting to the magazines.... it works really well, as you can see.


The shirt he was wearing on this particular day said, "Mischief is my business, and business is GOOD."

He also enjoys terrorizing Molly. Good thing Molly is so tolerant of his antics!


Jeremiah is starting to pull himself up on furniture! Yikes! I'm not ready for this!


Thankfully he doesn't ALWAYS find trouble to get into-- he does enjoy playing with his toys and reading his books!



All that playing and getting into trouble makes for a tired boy!

A visit from Auntie Abby!

Auntie Abby came for a visit this weekend all the way from Chicago! She got here late Friday night, and of course, the person she really came to see was already in bed. :( So, she got up bright and early to finally get to see Jeremiah!

We participated in the ALS Walk on Saturday, for our friend Mike. It was a beautiful fall day, so we enjoyed being outside!

At first he was concerned, but then he started splashing away!

Sunday, we went to church, had lunch at Panera (sorry, Grandma Wiers, no pictures of that), and then hung out at home till it was time for Abby to head home.
