Grandpa and Grandma Wiers came for a visit this past weekend, and Jeremiah was quite excited! Leading up to Thursday when they arrived, we would tell him how many days until Grandpa and Meema would be here. And no matter how many days we would say, J would say, "Is it toDAY?!?!?!?!" And then finally, it was toDAY. :)
They arrived just about the same time we all arrived home from work and school and daycare on Thursday. We headed out for a Panera dinner, of course (Jeremiah always associates Panera with Grandpa and Grandma Wiers..... he gets disappointed when we go there and Grandpa and Meema are NOT there).
Then on Friday, J got to spend the day with Grandpa and Meema while I was at school and Adam was at work. He made sure to play with them outside a lot and took them to the park (it was a gorgeous 80+ degree day!). In the evening, we decided to grab Subway for dinner and took it to the
Jester Park Natural Playscape for a picnic, because it was such a beautiful evening!

| Such a beautiful evening! |
 |
| Looking for buffalo.... he didn't see any. |
 |
| One of the male elk. |
 |
| Oh, there are the buffalo (buffaloes? Buffali?)! |
 |
| J and some elk in the background. |
My parents were in for some fun on Saturday! We held a small little garage sale for most of the day (Adam and I have finally started going through some of the crap/junk/treasures in our storage area of the basement.... lots of stuff has been donated, but we felt that some of it could make us some $). My mom helped me price stuff Friday night, and on Saturday morning we were open for business. I had only advertised on craigslist, and the weather was kind of yucky (rainy!), but I was impressed with how many people did come AND that some of our stuff actually sold!. Biggest surprise was how many of our VHS tapes sold-- who knew people still wanted those? I should have priced them higher than a quarter!! The biggest item we had was Adam's old loveseat, and I was so happy to sell that (after hauling it up from the basement, there was no way in heck I was helping to haul it back down!).
Overall, it was a success and I am glad we did it!
 |
| Forgot to take a "before" pic. This was pretty late in the sale-- lots of stuff gone! |
We still have that TV available, though-- let me know if you are interested! :)
 |
| He owes me $ for that. |
If you gave us "Uno Attack" for our wedding, thank you! You can thank Jeremiah for rescuing it from being sold away at the garage sale.
After the sale, we headed to Olive Garden for dinner-- yum!
 |
| J agrees-- the spaghetti was de-lish! |
When we got home, Adam decided he needed to mow-- WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Does everyone else get as excited as J does about this?!?!?!? J tried to get everyone to watch. I'm sure Adam loved having an audience.
 |
| Had to make sure G and G were standing in the right spot. |
 |
| J and Grandpa swept up the grass clippings. |
 |
| Big boy pushing the mower in all by himself (his favorite part)! |
We ended the day with Grandma reading bedtime stories to the grandkids. :)
Sunday we got up and had my wonderful, homemade-from scratch (not really) cinnamon rolls for breakfast. This has become a tradition in our little family, and
HERE is the recipe I use. It is really easy, if you don't mind doing a little bit of work the night before. They rise in the fridge overnight, and all you have to do is pop them in the oven in the morning. And they taste like I woke up before dawn to make them from scratch-- SO GOOD!!! :)
 |
| Everyone agrees! |
We headed off to church, and then hit Panera for lunch afterwards.
 |
| J picked a table for him and Grandma. The rest of us "3rd wheels" pulled up a table! |
After lunch it was time for Grandpa and Grandma to head back to Wisconsin. Their visits always seem to go by too fast! J is all ready to head to WI for Thanksgiving (we might need to start a countdown chain or something, otherwise he'll keep asking if it's "toDAY?!?!?!?"). Thanks for coming Mom and Dad, and for all your help this weekend!!
Stay tuned-- we have an exciting weekend coming up! We are heading to Iowa City for the Iowa/MSU football game! We can't wait!!!
I love reading about Bob and Judy's visits! Makes me wish my mom lived closer. And, i am totally going to pin that cinnamon roll recipe!! Have fun at the Iowa game!!
