Halloween, etc.

Well, looks like almost a month has gone by already-- yikes!  After starting out October with such an exciting event (the Hawkeye game, of course!), the rest of the month seems like it was kinda boring.  But yet, with Jeremiah, nothing is ever boring!! :)  So, some pictures to document what we have been up to the past month:
The weather is getting chillier, but has still been pretty nice and fall-ish.  Adam mowed a couple weeks ago and of course J had to get in on the action (not sure if that was the last mow of the season or not..... J will surely be disappointed if it was!)!
Playin' outside on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
If anyone out there is thinking of getting J any TOYS for Christmas, please don't.  Now all he wants is "supplies" for his toolbox (tape, bubblewrap, plastic 3M hooks.... all of these qualify as "supplies").

One of the reasons October was busy was of course, Parent/Teacher Conferences at school.  Adam always brings J and they have dinner with me one of the nights, which is so so nice.  I HATE not seeing J for a whole entire day and getting home when he is already asleep!  Talk about mommy guilt. :(  I think my hubby feels sorry for me, cause he came all the way out to school to bring me this on one of my conference days:
And it's a venti, too!  Woohoo!
The beautiful thing about conferences is having the Friday after off from school! :)  Yay, a whole day to spend with my little guy, PLUS Adam and I got a date night that night, too!
J got his flu shot that day and was SUCH a big boy.  Just said, "OWIE!!!!" and didn't even cry! :)  Then we ran some errands (had to stop at The Dollar Tree for a reward for my big boy, too!), and ended the morning at the mall for some play time.  J loves that place!

We had a nice relaxing afternoon, which is my favorite part of a day off!  J is still definitely a napper (although at home he is much more difficult about it).
My big baby, still precious when he sleeps!
It was a nice day for snuggling.
And Adam and I were very excited to have a date night that night-- thanks to Michelle, our wonderful daycare provider who offers a "Parent's Night Out" every so often.  We hit Outback for dinner and then went to see the movie "Gravity."
Wow, have you seen "Gravity"?  Yikes, I felt like I needed a nap (or a drink) after that movie!!!!!!

And, our date night ended with Jeremiah vomiting all over the floor at Michelle's house. :(  Good times!  I have NO idea what in the world was the problem.  We got there to pick him up, I was holding him, and we were standing around talking and all of the sudden, puke!  WHAT!??!?!  So yeah.  We made a quick exit and got J home and in bed.  He had a 99.9 fever when we got home, too.  He slept till about 7:30 the next morning and seemed totally fine (asked right away for fruit snacks, of course!).  So it was very weird.  No one else seems to have come down with whatever it was J had, not sure if it was a flu shot reaction, or he ate something that disagreed with him, or what!
Feeling better the next day!

Of course, in October you have to carve pumpkins!  Last weekend Adam agreed to tackle that project (he is the resident pumpkin-carver in this house!).  I had found a pattern on Pinterest of a minion from "Despicable Me", and I knew J would love it. :)
Ready to start!

Scooping out the goop.

Adam carving, J "Making pumpkin pies!"
The finished product!

Wednesday was what people here in this area call "Beggar's Night."  I say this every year, but it is SO weird to not go trick-or-treating on actual Halloween!  So strange.  But whatever, we do what we are told.  So that means we headed out on Wednesday at 6:00 pm for a stroll around the neighborhood for some trick-or-treating!
And by "stroll" I actually mean SPRINT.  Because that is what J did around the whole neighborhood!  Running from house to house, running up the steps to each house, running back down..... phew.  His cheeks were rosy, and he had to take his hard hat off after a while because he was getting sweaty!  No amount of "Slow down, be careful, the candy will still be there..... etc" could deter this guy!!!

Cutest construction worker EVER.
I'm a little sad that J actually has an opinion now about his costume!  No more fuzzy, cute costumes like this:
Or this:
Or even this:
Oh well.  I believe his chubby cheeks can make any costume look cute! :)

Thursday was actual Halloween, and J got to wear his costume again for his daycare Halloween party.  And then last night, my school put on a "Trunk or Treat," so we went up there for a bit, too.  J had lots of fun (and we have LOTS of candy on top of our refrigerator)!

Oh, and this weekend we have a visitor.
No, we did not shrink Molly and bleach her fur.  This is Stella-- she belongs to Kristin, who is Adam's cousin and J's FAVORITE babysitter! :)  Stella is staying with us for a couple days.  Obviously Molly has taught her that the best seat in the house is on the back of the couch!

It's hard to believe we are in November already-- Thanksgiving and a trip to WI for us will be here before we know it!!!!!! :)
