It's so hard to believe that Christmas is over and tomorrow begins a New Year! When I think back on 2014, I think it was probably the busiest, craziest, most exciting, most stressful, longest, AND shortest year of our lives (if that even makes sense!) :) It was quite a year- with Adam living in MI and traveling to Iowa on weekends (during the worst winter EVER), living apart during the week, putting the house on the market, selling the house, finishing the last half of the school year, packing up, moving to MI, packing up, moving AGAIN, and then baby Hope's arrival.... whew! What an incredible year full of blessings! We are truly thankful!
But. Before this turns into a "reflection on 2014" post, let's revisit Christmas!
Before we left for Wisconsin, we were able to squeeze in a few fun Christmas activities. We were able to go with some friends to see the train and Christmas trees at Meijer Gardens, and Jeremiah (and their son Jordan) had a blast!

We did our own family Christmas the Saturday before, and of course J was thrilled that he would get to do presents twice. By the way, he claims to believe in Santa, but when he has more than one Christmas and presents never actually "magically" appear under the tree, I'm not sure he really does. And if he does, he'll figure it out real soon!
Hope was happy to have big brother's help with opening presents!

Jeremiah's favorite gift from us (the "something you want") was a new Bruder front-end loader. Yippee! More trucks!!
Hope could not contain her excitement!

We stick to the "something you want, you need, to wear, to read" and somehow they still end up with so much! We also do a few things in their stockings, which we did on Sunday morning!

We headed to Wisconsin on Monday morning, and both J and H did great on the 5 hour drive! Hope slept from home all the way to the Lake Forest oasis, then ate and slept again until we arrived in Brookfield! Yay for our road trip rockstar!

Monday night we went to see some Christmas lights and went inside to see the train display. J loved it, of course!

Tuesday was Cedarburg day for my mom, Abby & Neil, Hope, and me. I just love going to Cedarburg! The Creme & Crepe NEVER disappoints! :)

We also shopped around a bit and of course, ended up at Amy's for caramel apples. The one I bought for myself was dipped in caramel, peanuts, and chocolate. Heaven!
Wednesday was Christmas Eve, so my family's tradition is to do lunch out, then 5:00 Christmas Eve candlelight service (I didn't breathe the entire time J was holding his lit candle.... And he did NOT drop it and burn down the church! Phew!), then home for appetizers and presents!
Lunch at Cafe Hollander! No discount for Dutch people, though. :(

Appetizers for dinner! All of our usual favorites!!

We were able to FaceTime with Matt, Cheryl, Josie, and Evan out in California while doing presents! Technology is great!

Jeremiah's 2 fave gifts- side loader garbage truck from Grandma and Grandpa Wiers (yippee! More trucks!) and remote control vehicle from Uncle Matt and Aunt Cheryl!
He also got a fun game called "Uno Moo"- very fun and perfect for our son with a five minute attention span. :)

On Christmas Day our tradition is butterhorns for breakfast (not my personal fave, but everyone else likes them!) and then stockings!

He loves butterhorns!

Abby & Neil and Ben took off late on Christmas Day, but we stuck around through the weekend. It was nice to relax and enjoy time with family!!!!
The weather was pretty decent, so Adam and J tried out the new remote control vehicle.

On Saturday we went bowling and J thought that was lots of fun! What wasn't so fun was how long it took his bowling ball to reach the pins. Oh my word! One time his ball even started rolling BACKWARD up the alley and then just stopped. We need to work on his upper body strength, I guess!

Ooo hey look! I broke 100! And I beat Adam!

We loved being able to spend time with my family over Christmas! And we are so thankful that the weather (and kids) cooperated for traveling.
A couple more pics from our time in WI:
J and H with Uncle Ben!

How sweet is this?

Molly was not forgotten!

Side note: this is my first attempt at a blogpost from our iPad. I have no idea how it will turn out or how the format will be-- I'm just hoping you can read the words and see the pictures.
Happy New Year!
