February So Far!

We had a very nice Valentine's Day- actually we've been celebrating since Thursday when J had his party at pre-school! He loved getting cards from all his friends and carefully laid them all out on the coffee table and asked who each one was from.

Unfortunately the lovely MI weather foiled our plan to drive in to Grand Rapids to have lunch at PF Chang's (one of our favorite places!!). We had no idea until yesterday that bad weather was coming- why is it that sometimes the weather forecasters freak out about a storm like days in advance and other times it's a surprise? I guess we should have tried to stay up for the 11:00 news on Thursday night. Anyway, we decided to just go out for dinner in Holland on Friday night instead of chancing the weather today, and we're glad we did! Driving to GR with blizzard conditions? No thanks. Our dinner at Beechwood Inn was SUPER romantic with our 3rd and 4th wheels long! :)
2 of my 3 Valentines. LOVE.

And this little sweetheart!
For anyone who cares- her sweater (that has little heart elbow patches, too! Aagh, the cuteness!) is from Meijer. I got it on sale at Christmas time for $4!

Adam also came home from work on Friday with flowers- a gorgeous bouquet (and pedicure gift certificate!!!) which were "from the kids" and a dozen red roses from him. He did well. :)

Valentine goodies. I couldn't resist getting the Littles Carry-All Caddy from Thirty-One for J and H!

Today we enjoyed relaxing at home and listening to the crazy wind blow! Sounds like Iowa!

The kids have both been up to different things. J is doing well in pre-school and we have his next parent/teacher conference in a couple weeks. He turns 5 (yes, FIVE) in exactly 4 days. Waaaaahhhh.

I had a creative moment and somehow managed to fashion an Army tank out of Thirty-One boxes, a paper towel tube, and a wrapping paper tube. J said to me, "Mom, you're GREAT!!!" I am going to try to be creative more often if it gets a response like that! (He did the painting, by the way).
Seriously, a work of art.

J also was my right hand man for decorating Valentine cookies!
I used the recipe from The Pioneer Woman. And oh my heavens- frosted or unfrosted, baked or raw dough(!!!)-- SO so good! We highly recommend. I might make more tomorrow.... cause they're gone.

Hope has been busy getting way too big (she's almost 4 months old!!) and doing way too many things. Her most recent accomplishment is rolling over from her back to her tummy. She kind of skipped rolling from tummy to back, which I think is what most babies do first. But she is not on her tummy very often because, well, she hates it. So I haven't forced it (and I'm pretty sure she'll be fine). :) I missed the first time she rolled. I came downstairs and she was like this:
A couple days later I did get THIS VIDEO of her rolling over. She is so funny because she tries and tries to roll over and then gets super frustrated when she finds herself on her tummy! You'd think that would be motivation to learn to roll tummy to back, but no. She just screeches.

I've done some more consigning of baby/kids clothes at The Hive and bought this for Hope with some of my credit (only $6.50 total!).
I just can't wait to see her little chubby self in this bathing suit and cover up! :)

That's about it for now- next week I will have a post celebrating our BIG 5 year old!
