Well hey, January is finally over!! Definitely my least favorite month of the year; and no matter what we have going on, it always feels 100 days long!!
Found this on Instagram and I could so relate!
Looking back at my last post and Norah at 6 months.... and I totally forgot to put in her stats from her well-child visit. Poor 3rd child, always forgotten. Anyhoo, at 6 months Norah weighed 17 lbs 7 oz (72 %ile) and was 26.25 inches long (62 %ile). Still our little peanut compared to the other 2! Hope was 18 lbs 10 oz and 26.5 inches (both around 80 %ile) and Jeremiah was 20 lbs 2 oz (90 %ile) and 28 inches long (97 %ile!!). π± Reading my post about Jeremiah at 6 months, apparently I asked the doctor if we were feeding him too much. π€£ At her doctor visit, N also got her vaccinations plus she was finally old enough for her first dose of the flu shot. Lots of pokes for her chubby little thighs, thankfully we really didn’t see much crabbiness or anything (that I can remember). And just this week she got her second dose of the flu shot, too.
So, what else did we do to pass the time in this very long month?
New Years Day was just me and the kiddos since Adam had to work. We watched the Rose Parade and basically we stayed in our PJ’s all day, because why not.
They do love their baby sister! π
On January 4, my nephew Duncan was born to Abby and Neil! So on January 5, I took the girls for a little day trip to Elmhurst to see Duncan (and Abby and Neil) in the hospital! I’m so glad we went!! He is just the cutest!
Hope was being weird. Ever since Norah was born, she’s not too keen on hospitals. I think she thought I’d be staying at the hospital like I did when N was born?!
This girl and her little smile and cheeks! π
Unfortunately mid-January brought Influenza A into our house. π€§π·π€ Hope was the first to come down with it- Tuesday the 9th she woke up from her nap with a low fever, was lethargic, etc. Coughing during the night made her vomit, Wednesday she was worse so we took her in. We actually thought (and hoped and prayed) that it was Strep because J was on round 2 of antibiotics for his Strep. No such luck, it was Influenza A. π’
And as I was running errands and picking up the Tamiflu prescriptions I got a call from School that J had fever! I did not take him in, but assume it was Influenza for him, too.Thursday both H and J were down most of the day, but J woke up fever-free and really perked up by afternoon. Had some coughing etc, but it was not too bad for him (thanks to his flu shot which can lessen severity and also the Tamiflu he took!). Hope perked up Thursday night and also broke her fever, and we were so happy because we were supposed to leave Friday for our Wiers family Christmas in Wisconsin! We decided to give H an extra day to recover, and leave Saturday morning instead of Friday afternoon.
Buuut, as Friday went on, Hope continued to do well, but Norah started going downhill. I took her to urgent care Friday evening because of her cough (she didn’t even have a fever yet), and of course, Influenza A.
Urgent Care nap.
So we had to decide what to do about our WI trip, and exposing everyone to our germs..... unfortunately it’s not something that could be rescheduled very easily because of Adam’s work (plus we really wanted to have our Christmas!). My parents were ok with us coming still, so we decided Saturday late morning to go for it (and there would be no hugs, kisses, or baby snuggling ☹️). Perhaps it was foolish to go and bring our germs along with us, but thankfully N broke her fever Monday morning (I think) and was actually pretty happy on Saturday and Sunday as long as we kept her fever under control with ibuprofen. AND, no one else got the flu! π€
3 kids with Influenza + 2 adults trying to prevent Influenza = lots of Tamiflu π
Adam and I never did get it- woohoo!
And the box on the left isn’t Tamiflu, it’s Baby Orajel. Why not have Influenza AND get 2 bottom teeth at the same time? π©
I didn’t take many pictures over the WI weekend.... probably was too concerned about keeping the kids from spreading germs. π Saturday after we arrived, I went with my Mom and Aunt JoAnne to Cedarburg and we met my cousin Jane for lunch at the Cream and Crepe! ππ» It was a really nice afternoon! On Sunday, Abby, Neil, and Duncan came from Chicago so we could do our Christmas. We were able to FaceTime with Matt, Cheryl, Josie, Evan, and Ben in California while we opened presents, which was so nice.
Duncan was there! This was as close as I got. π·
How cute is he?!? π
Lego’s for Christmas!
I am so so thankful that the flu was not worse for our kids (and that Adam and I stayed healthy!)! After hearing so many stories on the news, I was very worried, especially about Norah being only a baby! Her cough lingered for awhile and I even brought her back to the dr and they tested her for RSV- so thankful that was negative! She’s back to her normal happy self now. She occasionally does still cough, but I honestly think she just does it for attention now. π€£
On Saturday’s in January, Jeremiah has been doing basketball (Little Hoops π) at his school. And then they play short games during the half-times of some of the high school basketball games! He’s having lots of fun with it (he rarely touches the ball, but he’s pretty proud when someone passes to him or he dribbles a few steps!)!

On January 21, this girl turned 7 months old!! πππ
We ❤️ her so much!
On January 20, Jeremiah got to have an early birthday party! We had a combined party with 2 of his school friends who have January birthdays. We had the party at Happy Joe’s so there was pizza, cake, games and prizes!
Crazy kid π€ͺ
I have pics of him with his buddies, but didn’t want to post them on here without permission! And unfortunately one of his friends who the party was for, had to miss it because he got Influenza! We were so sad for him! π’
Monday the 27th was the 100th day of school!
Meet 100 year old Jeremiah π
As I was taking the picture, I said “Um, what are you doing!?” And he said, “I don’t know, this is just my 100 years old face.” πππ
Any day that Daddy is home is a good day!
Influenza was running rampant through Jeremiah’s school, so he actually had 2 days off of school due to illness last week! We started getting a little bored and got a little creative!
We made fake snow! ❄️❄️❄️
It was a MESS!!! π©π¬
This girl’s mullet is something else!
It adds to her already fun personality, I think! π
Hooray that January is done, on to February!! ❤️ Lots of fun to come!
