Wonderful Weekend!

Well, I have to say that my first Mother's Day was a very special one! Jeremiah was baptized today, and we had lots of family and friends in town to celebrate with us!

Grandma and Grandpa Wiers and Auntie Abby came on Friday night, and Grandma and Grandpa Wissink, Aunt Rachel and Uncle Kelly, and cousins Kyan and Kobe came on Saturday (our good friends, the Dykshorns and Hooyers, also came down all the way from Sioux Center!).

We decided to spend some time at Tulip Time in Pella on Saturday. Here is a picture of me and Abby at the parade-- look how gorgeous it was on this lovely May day! By the way-- can you tell which one is me and which one is Abby? Apparently we look alike.

In honor of Tulip Time and our Dutch heritage, we had lunch at El Charro... the Mexican restaurant in Pella. :)

Somehow, after a long COLD day in Pella, Jeremiah was all smiles all the way home-- what a good boy!

When we got home, some people needed a nap...

I bet you thought I was talking about Jeremiah.... nope! I was talking about the old folks-- Grandpa Wiers and Auntie Abby. :)

Then Saturday night we enjoyed pizza at Pagliai's Pizza with both sides of the fam. Adam says that the pizza there is ALMOST better than Pizza Ranch. Wow.

Jeremiah spent some quality time with Grandpa Wissink and Kyan while we waited for our pizza.

Then Jeremiah gave up on waiting for the pizza, and decided to suck on his thumb instead!

Grandpa Wiers is trying to make Jeremiah laugh... Jeremiah is thinking hard about how THAT'S what he's going to look like when he grows up if he doesn't start parting his hair differently.

Sunday turned out to be a nice sunny day (although not all that warm)-- a beautiful day for Mother's Day and a baptism! Jeremiah slept through the first part of church, and then woke up when we were standing up on stage with him. He didn't seem to mind the water being put on his head-- he did a great job! Until the sermon started... then daddy had to take him out. Then mommmy heard him screaming 15 minutes later, so SHE had to leave, too. But after a little snack, Jeremiah was happy and ready to greet his fans and have his picture taken.

After the baptism, we invited our family and friends over to our house for an open house! I didn't get many pictures of that, though... too busy eating cake, I guess.

Here's Jeremiah with his friend (possible girlfriend??? I'm not sure-- she's an older woman-- 6 whole months!) Samantha Hooyer. She's giggling because she's flirting with Jeremiah. He's concerned because she just ran her fingers through his hair (I'm not kidding-- she really did!).

After such a wonderful weekend, it's hard to think about heading back to school tomorrow. I have already cried about it once tonight, so hopefully that's it. Although, when I kiss those cheeks good-bye tomorrow morning, I just know I'm going to lose it! I just need to make it through 3 1/2 weeks, though, and then Jeremiah and I can spend the whole summer together! Thanks to all of our family and friends for coming and sharing this special weekend with us!!!!

  1. Well worth the drive to see you and your family and share Jeremiah's special day! Love the pics. The last one is MY favorite ;) We'll have to keep that one around to show them when they're older. Thanks again for the great weekend!

  2. Oh, my favorite picture has to be the one of Jeremiah and Grandpa Wiers having a face-off. So cute. Love the Piece shirt.

  3. Thanks for sharing your day with us through your blog. We enjoy the pictures and your dialogue to go with them. Jeremiah is such a handsome little guy. You are fortunate Jeremiah will be with Grandmas your first two weeks back at school. Do you have to make up all your snow days? Aunt JoAnne

  4. Sorry about having to go back to school. Even though I only took a week off for Josie's birth, it took quite awhile for me to really care about teaching again.
