Summer Days

I am so glad that summer vacation has arrived! Jeremiah and I have enjoyed spending our days together again. I know that this summer is going to go much too quickly, so we are enjoying what time we have before school will start again. For those of you who are interested in my work situation... there is still no word from my current school regarding contracts. I was told on the last day of school that I WOULD indeed be given a contract, but they could not tell me what exactly I would be teaching. They said possibly full-time 1st Grade (depending on enrollment) or full-time Kindergarten (depending on enrollment) or part-time 1st/part-time K (depending on enrollment), and even possibly part-time Preschool.... you guessed it, depending on enrollment. They said they probably won't know what I'd be teaching until August. So, as of now, none of the teachers there have been given contracts, and I have no idea what the hold up is. For me, it is nice because I am free to look elsewhere right now. SOOOOO... my desire to find a new school is strong! My interview (at the school that is 5 minutes away from our house) last week went pretty well-- as well as could be expected for having to teach a lesson to 25 Kindergartners at 2:00 on their last day of school! But, I have heard nothing from that school yet, either. So I'm starting to get a bit discouraged, but I'm also trying to be hopeful that maybe the reason I haven't heard anything yet is because they are trying to get a hold of references????? I guess we'll see. Of course I will let you, my loyal readers, know as soon as I hear anything. :)

Now.... some pictures from our first week of summer vacation! Someone got her "summer haircut!" The place where Molly gets her hair cut is sort of a "free range" salon... meaning that when she's not getting bathed and trimmed or whatever, she has free roam of the salon. Needless to say, she comes home pretty pooped. :)

It seems like in the last week or so, Jeremiah has grown so much and is becoming so much more aware! He loves laying on the floor playing with toys, and now he actually plays with them! He's really trying to roll over, but he has one arm that always just gets in the way. I'm sure he'll get it figured out soon, though! Of course, Molly is always around to supervise:

If we had trees in our yard to give some shade, we'd enjoy more outside time. But for now, we've mostly been playing inside and enjoying the outside from the safety of the stroller or Baby Bjorn.

My #1 Hunk:

I think that Jeremiah is going to get the nickname "Linus" soon... he just loves his 2 swaddling blankets. I think we're going to have to purchase a couple more, just to make sure that there is always one available. The other day, BOTH were in the washing machine, and that was not pretty.

And finally, a picture from this morning before church. Sometimes I just stop and look at Jeremiah and wonder where the past 4 months (almost) have gone! Where has my tiny newborn baby gone?

Next week Jeremiah will be 4 months old, and on the 22nd he has his 4 month check-up (and shots-- yikes! Let's home mommy is a bit more emotionally stable this time!). I'll be sure to update on his stats. :)

  1. Cute pictures, Rachel. Does Molly leave Jeremiah's toys alone when he's playing on the floor like that?

  2. Actually, she does leave them alone pretty much. She sometimes sniffs at them and really stares at the ones that make noise. I think she knows that I am watching her, so she hasn't tried to eat any of them (yet). :)
