Summer!!!

It's officially here, people!  FINALLY!!!!!!

J and I are enjoying our time at home, and a much more relaxed schedule/routine (seriously, no matter what, there will always be somewhat of a schedule/routine-- it's how I operate!).  Friday was my first day of summer vacation, and of course, the weather was cool and cloudy..... blah.  But, we hit up the library and got some new books, movies, signed up for the Summer Reading Program, and even got to play with J's daycare buddies who were also there. :)  We also ran some errands.... got some last minute things needed for our big Disney trip!

Monday was our next day of vacation, and unfortunately had to be pretty low-key.  Poor J has been battling some tummy issues for almost 3 weeks now, and Sunday night was pretty bad for him-- he complained of his tummy hurting (that's been his main complaint for the past few weeks!) and then ended up throwing up 3 times. :(  It reminded me all too much of this year's Spring Break.  So, we weren't sure if this was yet another flu bug, even though he just had one 3 weeks ago.... or if this is still the SAME bug he's been battling on and off the past 3 weeks.... or if it's some kind of allergy or intolerance..... it all makes me uneasy (I'm not a huge fan of "not knowing" or things being out of my control....).  Adam took him to the doctor a week and a half ago and was given a prescription-- hoping it was just taking awhile to get his digestion back on track.  Well, since that hasn't seemed to help all that much, and with the vomiting recently and still complaining of tummy hurting, the doctor asked for a stool sample (isn't THAT fun?!?!?) and also is going to be doing an x-ray on Thursday. :(  Praying very hard that this is nothing and J's digestion will be back to normal soon (departure for Florida is t-minus 4 days)!!!!
So this was part of Monday. :(

Thankfully, Monday he was pretty much back to normal and wanted to be up and around and playing (I kept him on the couch for the morning.... as long as I could!).

Today, with J totally back to his normal self, we headed out for some fun play time on a hot and sunny day (finally...) with friends!  We met Celeste and J's buddies Tristan and Pierce at the Ankeny Splash Park!

We broke in the new Mickey swim outfit in preparation for our trip to see "Mickey's house"!

He really did have fun... it's just REALLY hard to fill a bucket without getting sprayed in the face!!

Buddies!!
Then, we all grabbed lunch and met up with MORE friends for a picnic and more play time!
How cute are J and Ruby together?!?!?! :)

J, Ruby, and Emerson!
After that, we headed home for a much needed nap.  Whew!  A hot, sunny, fun day!!! :)

Something else "exciting".... we discovered that up the street they are doing lots of dirt work (they are connecting the road which is a dead end right now.... I think).  All J needs to do is hear the rumble of the machinery and he wants to go check it out!
Mesmerized.

2 excavators, a loader, steamroller, dump truck, cement mixer.....

And, I believe that J and I both may have a new addiction (no, not construction equipment).

This:
YUM!  And yes, J is playing with pool noodles near a sidewalk chalk pool...
So nice of DQ to start selling Orange Julius in all their stores-- oh my, they are good!! :)

And, on a TOTALLY unrelated note.  Does anyone else's dog do this?  Flock to clean laundry just out of the dryer to lay in it?
No?  Okay..... then Molly is just "special."

So, that's what we have been up to, these first few days of summer.  Now it's time to prepare for the big Disney trip-- I'm sure that will be my next post!!!

  1. Oh my, if we had a construction site right up the road from us, we wouldn't have to go anywhere all summer!! Sounds like a fun summer so far. Looking forward to hearing about Disney!
