A fun and busy weekend

As I said in my previous post, Jeremiah experienced his very first Iowa Cubs baseball game on Saturday night. He really did well at the game-- we even were able to stay until almost the 7th inning, which is longer than we made it last year when we went to the I-Cubs game (apparently a 6 month old baby is easier to pacify than a pregnant lady...hmmm.) We probably would have stayed longer if it hadn't been so darn hot... there was just no breeze at all and we were all just sweating. All 3 of us could only stand it for so long!

Jeremiah was excited about being at Principal Park!

Really excited!

The State Capital Building is straight behind center field.

This is the I-Cubs version of the Milwaukee Brewers sausage race. Here we have the race of the QT chef, hotdog, and taquito. FYI... no one runs a better sausage race than my dad (and he has the proof on video).

Jeremiah did even manage to squeeze in a short nap at the game.

It was a very fun night! And we are continually amazed at how happy and content Jeremiah is, even when his mommy and daddy drag him places and mess with his schedule. :)

On Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa Wissink came down and we all went to the Iowa State Fair! It was horribly hot. Worse than at the I-Cubs game. We only lasted a few hours at the fair, and it wasn't just because of Jeremiah. We were ALL hot and sick of all the sweating!

When we arrived, Jeremiah was obviously bored with the whole thing.

We did manage to enjoy some lemonade and see some of the sights that we usually like to see at the fair. Like, the hugest bull in the entire world (or something like that...).

Just so you know, touching the bull is not a good idea.

We also saw cows...

...and piglets!

"Hmmmm. Mom, I think I'm getting hungry."

And, of course, we always have to see the cow made out of butter.

This year there were also characters from Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" made out of butter.

Hot and sweaty but STILL smiling!

Laughing with Grandpa! And SO happy to be cooling off at home in the AC! :)

  1. What a sport during the fair. Ruby was so fussy at the fair and of course after the fact I realized she was cutting a tooth, but seriously! Jeremiah is so darn happy and I love his big old cheesy grins!

  2. I LOVE that last picture! What a cutie, cutie!! One of these days we will have to head up north for the Iowa State fair, hear it's the best in the country...however, those who are telling me that may be a bit biased. :)

  3. I really love all the big smiles on most of the pictures, but that last picture is SUPER cute!! I think that the heat and humidity did a number on his hair! :)
