Our friends Travis and Celeste have a boat, and they invited us to go boating with them at Lake Red Rock in the afternoon--fun! Last summer we were often invited to hang out on the boat with them, but only Adam was able to do so, since morning/all day sickness and boats don't really mix. :) But this time, we all were able to enjoy some time on the boat-- Jeremiah's first boating experience! Let me just say-- he really loved it! Of course, there was LOTS to look at, so he was wide-eyed for a lot of the time. But the sound of the motor and the movement of the boat also lulled him to sleep, too. We had a fantastic time!
Jeremiah was pretty excited about his first boat ride!
You need to wear your shades on a hot, sunny day! Jeremiah's head needs to grow just a bit so his sunglasses don't push his ears down. :)
Jeremiah took a little snooze so mommy and daddy could jump in and swim!
In case you haven't heard, we got quite a bit of rain here in central Iowa last week... the lakes around here are all very high. Yes, those are trees!
Adam gave wake-surfing a try...
It might not look like it, but he was extremely close to getting up on the board! Maybe next time! FYI, he is pretty sore today after that.
And while Adam was trying the wake-surfing and Travis and Celeste did some wake-boarding...
Jeremiah and I just chilled out. :)
Jeremiah is a natural on the boat in this hat!
What a wonderful way to spend a summer day!
Please tell me there was an infant-sized life jacket on that boat?!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, your older, wiser college roomie forbids you to ever bring Jeremiah on it again until you have one!!!!
My sentiments exactly, Lynne! Rachel and I already discussed this matter when she told me about the boat outing on the phone last night.
ReplyDeleteYes, Yes, there WAS an infant sized life-jacket on board the boat! We never tried it on Jeremiah, but it was there if needed (however, he would have had to fight the other, smaller infant who was also on the boat for it). :) Oh, and according to the DNR, all you really need on board a boat for an infant is a car seat. That makes a lot of sense, right? :)
ReplyDeleteThis is from Iowa DNR Boaters Education website:
ReplyDelete"Children Must Wear Life Jackets: While underway on a recreational vessel on any Iowa waters, a child under 13 years old must WEAR a United States Coast Guard–approved life jacket unless the child is below deck or in an enclosed cabin."
I know, I know - I'm obnoxious & annoying. :0]
Love you, though!!
I have seen that last picture in a commercial featuring the Gorton Fisherman.
ReplyDeleteDad
good thing the state had some budgetary cut backs and they are not regulating the water ways like some people would think they should....besides we never got over a slow idle while in the boat.
ReplyDeleteDad, i agree with your sentiments...i am now hungry for some fish sticks!
